What You Can Do

Vote YES on the redistricting measure this November.
This is a vote to defend democracy, not destroy it. - Educate your neighbors. Many voters are confused or concerned about this proposal. Help them understand that it’s temporary, conditional, and democratic.
- Stay engaged. We must hold our state accountable to return to independent redistricting after 2030. Integrity demands follow-through.
- Support democracy activists in Texas and beyond. The fight for fair maps doesn’t end at state borders. Solidarity matters.
- Join the coalition: contribute, volunteer, and endorse the campaign. Join elected officials, unions, and grassroots organizations at stopelectionrigging.com.

SACRAMENTO — Governor Gavin Newsom, alongside Speaker Robert Rivas and Senate pro Tempore Mike McGuire, signed the “Election Rigging Response Act” legislative package – giving Californians an opportunity this November to push back against President Trump’s power grab in Texas and other Republican-led states. Across the country, democracy is under siege. While headlines have focused on voter suppression laws, another quieter yet equally dangerous tactic has taken root: gerrymandering, the manipulation of district boundaries to entrench power.
Nowhere is this more blatant than in Texas, where Republican lawmakers, backed by former President Donald Trump, are pushing a mid-decade redistricting plan that would secure five additional GOP-held congressional seats. Not through winning hearts or minds, but through redrawing maps to erase opposition.
Gavin Newsom, governor of our own Golden State, has issued a bold challenge in response: a special election this November asking voters to approve a temporary redistricting plan for California, to go into effect only if states like Texas enact their partisan maps.
